South West Surplus Tooling, which is situated at Bridge, some 3 miles from Redruth, has been sold by Truro based commercial property agents Miller Commercial. The business had been established for 15 years and enjoyed considerable local support by marketing a wide range of tool equipment including such brands as Bosch, Wolfcraft and Nutool.

The freehold premises offered a net internal area of 506sq.m. [5454sq.ft.] and included a store and first floor offices.

SW Surplus Tooling was acquired jointly by the Jenkin & Shah families. Sue Jenkin, one of the joint proprietors, advises that they propose to amend the trading name to ‘S.W. Surplus Tools’ and refurbishment of the premises is currently being undertaken to provide clearer and better-defined departments.  The business will continue to specialise in the sale of all types of power and hand tools, which are likely to be of interest to both the trade and hobby/enthusiast markets. Sue continues, ‘It is our intention to create a new sales area devoted to feminine lines. We have seen quite a number of wives and partners accompanying their husbands, and it is hoped the new department, which will offer greetings cards, crafts, toiletries etc, will help ease the possible boredom of the ladies’ visits!’.

Mike Nightingale, Partner at Miller Commercial comments, ‘We were marketing the business for only a short time before it was put under offer. This indicates the strength of the reputation enjoyed locally by SW Surplus Tooling, who we think will continue to go from strength to strength’.

The business and premises was being marketed by inviting offers in excess of £330,000 SAV.
