ImageAn established gift shop in the centre of the north Cornish coast tourist destination of Tintagel is being brought to the market by Miller Commercial of Truro. Merlins Gifts on Fore Stis being offered off a freehold guide price of £499,950 SAV.

The business name provides a link with the legend of King Arthur, whose castle was deemed to stand on the coastline just down the valley from the village, where on the beach is a magnificent cave in which the king’s magician Merlin is supposed top have lived and worked his spells. In the 21st century the name is given to a gift shop, which enjoys enormous pedestrian traffic past its’ windows and offers a fine retail sales area of 580sq.ft. with good rear storage. On the first floor is the owners’ attractive 2/3 bedroomed accommodation with a rear patio and chalet.

Merlins Gifts sells a good range of craft goods, together with confectionery and ice cream. It operates all year round except for the month of January, as Tintagel is very much on the tourist map both in and out of the summer season. Sales for the year ended January 2007 approached £128,000, and generated an adjusted net profit of £38,500.

Graham Timmins of Miller Commercial’s Business Transfer Dept comments, ‘Merlins Gifts is a good lifestyle business in an appealing part of Cornwall, known for its’ magnificent coastal scenery. It would suit a husband and wife team working in partnership, who know and appreciate the locality, as well as the legend of King Arthur’.
