The long established café/restaurant enjoys a prominent trading position on River Street within the picturesque harbour village, which stands on Cornwall’s south coast and close to The Lost Gardens of Heligan tourist attraction The well presented premises provide seating for 58 covers and includes a licensed bar and coffee bar. The property comes with a fully equipped commercial kitchen with walk-in chiller. The Old Barkhouse is being offered on a leasehold basis, with the remainder of a 15 year full repairing and insuring lease, commencing 1999, at a current passing rent of £14,300 per annum. The restaurant business trades well and is only now being brought to the market because of retirement plans. Trading accounts for the year to May 2005 shows a turnover of £115,264, producing a gross profit in the region of 51%. The business is open all year round with the exception of the Christmas period. Gareth Moody of Miller Commercial’s Business Transfer Dept comments, ‘Mevagissey as a tourist destination sees many day visitors especially on coaches doing the Fowey and Mevagissey trips. Well presented cafe/restaurants like The Old Barkhouse, should continue to thrive, and it offers good value at the reduced guide price’.
