One of the largest ever commercial developments to be undertaken in Cornwall has come to the market. We have been appointed by developers, Practical Developments (SW) Ltd, together with BLS Estates, as joint agents for the Barncoose Gateway development near the A30 and Redruth.
The ambitious scheme encompasses circa 70,000 sq ft of commercial space and includes the construction of three office hybrid/industrial units built to a BREEAM "Excellent" standard – a measure of environmental sustainability.
Miller Commercial's Rob Redgrave says "We are delighted to be involved in such a landmark development. No-one else is building commercial premises of this magnitude in Cornwall and the amount of investment is a sign of confidence in the future of the county's commerce."
The £13.4 million project is supported by £6.7 million of EDF (European & Development Fund) Convergence Investment.
The first company to move in to the development is Coastline Housing, a Charitable Housing Association. The Company's Director of Corporate Services, David Wingham, says by consolidating its offices from 4 sites across West Cornwall to one central location, the Company will be able to work more efficiently and improve customer service. More than 100 staff hope to be settled in their new offices at Barncoose by the end of February.
