Upmarket fashion label wins bidding war with rival brands to secure premises in the heart of Truro.
Clothing retailer Joules will shortly be opening its new shop at 1 Pydar Street, the former Gul Store. The property, in the centre of the City's prime shopping area, was sought after by a number of retailers, however Joules, represented by joint agents Twenty Retail and Miller Commercial, succeeded in a competitive bidding scenario, eventually offering in excess of the agents requested guide rent.
Peter Heather, who helped secure the deal, says "the introduction of another high end brand such as Joules following closely on the opening of Henri Lloyd and hot on the heels of the deal to place a large Austin Reed store in Boscawen Street, is another major boost to Truro". He adds "at a time when High Streets in other parts of the country are struggling, there is a continuing demand from major retailers to be situated in Truro and I would hope their success would lead to the opening of outlets in other Cornish towns".
