Mansion House, Princes Street, Truro

Mansion House on Princes Street has been described as one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in the county.

The Grade II Listed building was sold off a guide price of £700,000 by us on behalf of Miller Countrywide.

Partner Peter Heather says "Countrywide Estate Agents have held the freehold interest of Mansion House since they acquired the interests of Miller and Company in 1990. We were pleased to be able to conduct a sale 'off market' to a local investor at a price which reflected a 7% net initial yield. This sale demonstrates that despite a lack of bank funding in the market, investments are still well sought after particularly where the tenant is strong and has committed to a lease term of at least 10 years".

Mansion House was designed by Thomas Edwards in 1751 and took 7 years to build. At the time of its completion the property was said to be 'the finest house in Truro.'

The outside of the building has been described as elegantly simple, the interior however is filled with intricately designed cornicing, ornate fire places and chandeliers.

A group of history enthusiasts from Truro Old Cornwall Society recently toured the building. Christine Parnell who's Secretary of the Society and has written several books on the city's history said "These grand town houses are particularly significant in Truro's history. They were owned by the Mayors, Burgesses and important businessmen of the 1800s."
