One of Cornwall's most successfully holiday letting businesses expand into new premises near Redruth. 35 staff at Cornish Cottage Holidays are settling into their new offices at the Barncoose Gateway Development on the Barncoose Industrial Estate, Redruth.
The company, which was established in 1970, has been growing steadily since Nigel Pickin and his wife Anne took over the helm 7 years ago. Since becoming Cornwall's only ABTA Bonded agency, and expanding to now offer housekeeping and maintenance services together with the launch of a new sister brand, Devonshire Cottage Holidays, the company had grown too large for its former Helston Headquarters.
General Manager Nigel Pickin says "When we took over we had around 230 properties on our books, that figure now stands at 635. This has meant we have had to take on more staff in our customer services team as well as source new experts for our property acquisitions team who deal with the growing number of people wanting to let their properties with us.
We simply grew out of our old offices and couldn't find a larger modern office space in or around Helston. At present we are utilising around half of the available office space here at Barncoose, but we have purposely chosen to locate to premises with room to expand. If the business keeps growing at this rate and you come back to see us in 5 years, all the offices should be full of busy staff!"
Cornish Cottage Holidays is the first tenant in the newly built Unit 9 offices at Barncoose. Their lease was negotiated by Rob Redgrave who says "As the name of the development suggests, this is a strategic gateway development occupying a strategic location just off the A30. Unit 9 was built as a hybrid unit, providing both office and industrial accommodation. The Barncoose Business Centre is nearing completion and offers 35,000 sq ft of office accommodation capable of being split into smaller suites of virtually any size".
