We can help with the acquisition of all types of properties, businesses, and residential development opportunities.

This includes off-market opportunities where suitable properties or development sites are not publicly available, or situations where a client already has a relationship with a seller and requires support to complete the purchase. Examples include acquiring a neighbouring property, securing land for residential development, or a tenant purchasing from an existing landlord.

We can where necessary discreetly approach property owners to explore potential acquisitions without initially revealing our client’s identity. For example, we act on behalf of retailers looking to improve their high street presence and approach other retailers directly on their behalf.

We also support clients who are building or rebalancing a property investment portfolio, or those sites to meet their strategic objectives.

    Mike has been in the profession for over 35 years and has been a Partner within Miller Commercial for over 20 years. He is a Chartered Surveyor, RICS Registered Valuer and Member of the Institute of Arbitrators. He is a Director of our subsidiary company Listers Commercial Property Consultants. He oversees the firm's agency activities and provides strategic advice to key clients. He also acts in an advisory capacity to our valuation and lease consultancy teams. He enjoys a challenge and likes to provide clients with innovative solutions. Outside of work the challenge normally involves a bicycle or boat or skis – normally an activity that involves holding a pint at the end of it!

  • Thomas Smith Partner

    Tom joined the company in 2015 and is an experienced Chartered Surveyor and commercial property agent, having trained, qualified and worked in London for 10 years before relocating down to Cornwall with his family. He specialises in the sale, purchase, acquisition and disposal of both freehold and leasehold commercial property throughout Cornwall and into the wider south west. In November 2021 Tom became an equity partner of Miller Commercial and is looking forward to driving the development of the business into its next chapter. He is a Director of our subsidiary company Listers Commercial Property Consultants. In his spare time, Tom enjoys time on the water with his family, sailing and fishing around the Carrick Roads.

  • Gareth Forrest Director - Listers Property Consultants

    Gareth has been with Listers Property Consultants, a subsidiary of Miller Commercial, since 2020. He is based at our Plymouth office and has key experience is commercial property sales and lettings, residential sales, development advice, portfolio investment sales and sales marketing. Prior to joining Listers, Gareth worked for, among others, Monk & Partners and King Sturge. He owned his own business, Town and Country, before merging with Langs, which he subsequently sold to his co directors. He is a keen outdoor pursuits enthusiast, particularly mountain biking, climbing, skiing, kayaking and hiking, as well as fitness training. He has recently been promoted to Director.

    Jonny has been a valued member of our team since 2019, where he focuses on delivering practical advice to business owners and landlords across the retail, industrial, hospitality and office markets, alongside disposals in the investment and development sectors. His deep understanding of the Cornwall market, connections with solicitors, accountants, bankers and planners and attention to detail ensure that his clients receive tailored solutions to meet their needs. Outside of work Jonny can be found reading, sea swimming, cycling around the coast, and exploring coves and paddle boarding spots with his two children.

  • Graham Timmins Associate / Head of Business Transfer

    In 2023 Graham marked 20 years with Miller Commercial and is involved with the providing Business Transfer sale advice across a wide range of properties, covering the South West region. Of particular interest is the Leisure Sector, such as campsites and cottages. Outside work, Graham is a keen tennis player and enjoys classical music.

  • Rob Luscombe Chartered Building Surveyor

    Rob has recently joined us as a Chartered Building Surveyor. He has been a professional member of the RICS since 1992 and a former member of the British Institute of Architectural Technologists and AutoCAD conversant being experienced in building design and detailing as well as space management. Rob has for a number of years been with a multinational surveying practice in Plymouth working throughout the south-west of England and for many years being based in the Channel Islands coordinating, managing and undertaking professional Building Surveying work. He has provided a full range of professional services to the private and public sectors for commercial, industrial and residential property particularly specialising in pre-acquisition surveys, Schedules of Dilapidations as well as pre-dilapidations advice and reporting, expert witness work and Planned Preventative Maintenance reporting and advice, inspection and preparation of building defect reports, party wall matters, Schedules of Condition, property and asset management, damp surveys and moisture mapping as well as contract administration, supervision and valuation of construction work. Rob is also an APC mentor, supervisor and counsellor for surveying graduates seeking professional membership of the RICS. He lives in East Cornwall and is a keen amateur photographer and licensed radio amateur.

  • Brian Botting Partner

    Brian is a Partner and a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors as well as a member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation. He joined Miller Commercial in April 2003 but entered the profession in 1973, and over the intervening years he has cultivated an enormous amount of experience gained in London, Nottingham, Devon and Cornwall. He specialises in the assembly, acquisition and disposal of development sites, in addition to undertaking valuation, rent review and lease renewal work. He is a Director of our subsidiary company Listers Commercial Property Consultants. Brian is responsible for the graduate training programme for the company and has helped more than a dozen graduates achieve Chartered status in the last 15 years.

  • Andrew Ranson Head of Valuation Services

    Andrew is our Head of Valuation Services and has been with Miller Commercial since 2007. He provides valuations for loan security, commercial and residential development and investment funding, tax planning, expert witness, asset management and rating. A Registered Valuer under the RICS scheme he has more than 16 years of experience working in the property industry. Andrew has an in depth knowledge of the commercial property sector in Cornwall with a particular specialism in valuing going concerns. In addition to his valuation work Andrew also advises and negotiates on a variety of Rent Review and Lease Renewal matters.

  • Ifan Rhys-Jones Consultant - Listers Property Consultants

    Ifan was the original founder of Listers Property Consultants which was established in 2011. In 2023 he sold the business to Miller Commercial but has remained with the company as a Consultant. Ifan's previous roles have included commercial property asset management in Sydney, residential agency in London and a specialism in south west regional offices. His interests include sailing, skiing, swimming and cycling.
